West Midlands Police have teamed up with the paranormal adventure specialists, Haunted Houses to bring a truly unique (and probably rather frightening!) opportunity this Halloween.
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to spend a night in a prison block thats hosted some of the countries most notorious criminals for over a century, here is your chance!
The eerie Victorian jailhouse was built in 1892 and housed some of the city’s most notorious criminals, including the likes of the original Peaky Blinders – and now, it could house you, well, for a night anyway!
Halloween Event – Tuesday 31st October 2018
This event provides a unique opportunity to spend an entire night on a Ghost Hunting Mission within the Victorian Lock Up in Birmingham City Centre on Halloween.
Conditons / Terms of Reference
You are purchasing an authentic night in the Victorian cell block in Birmingham – sleeping arrangements will be in individual cells, each of which will accommodate 2 people. Please note cells are approx. 12ft x 12 foot
Cells will either have an elevated single wooden bench or a floor level wooden platform , both are suitable for sleeping on . Other guests will sleep on the floor of the cell. Please note this will be a concrete floor.
Guests MUST bring sleeping bags and pillows and MAY choose to bring a camping mat / inflatable mattress with them for comfort. There is no provision for bedding to be provided.
Toilet facilities are limited – 2 female toilets on ground floor and 1 male toilet on the first floor within the main cell block. Each cell does have a working toilet however this is within the cell and screens are not provided.
Cells are distributed over 3 floors; lower ground, ground floor and first floor. Access to ground floor cells and communal presentation area and first floor is via a stair case. There are no lifts and the building is currently unsuitable for guests with mobility issues.
This experience is a an adult only event. Minimum age for guests is 18 years.
No alcohol or drugs are allowed in the cell block . The cell block is a No Smoking ( including e cigarettes / vapes ) environment and there will not be opportunity to exit the building during the event for smoking purposes.
The WMP Museum shop, including a tuck shop, will be open during this event. Tea and Coffee and cold snacks will be provided on sale during the event .
Guests may bring their own food, cold food only as no cooking or fridge facilities for food storage by guests.

- 8.15pm – 8.40pm: Tales From the Cells – story of the cell block presented by WMP Police Museum volunteers . Ground Floor Communal Area TBC
- 8.40pm – 8.50 pm: Health and Safety brief from Ghost Company
- 8.50pm – 9.40pm: Ghost Hunting Activities Session 1 (50 mins)
- 9.40pm – 22.30pm: Ghost Hunting Activities Session 2 (50 mins)
- 9.40pm – 22.30pm: Ghost Hunting Activities Session 2
- 2230pm – 2300pm: Break
- 2300pm – 2350pm: Ghost Hunting Activities Session 3
- 2350pm – 00.20hrs: Close down and photo
- 0020am – 0130am: Free time
- 0130am: Lights Off
- 0700am: Breakfast in the Block (Tea and Toast provided)
- 0800am: Break Out From The Lock Up
The WMP Museum shop, including a tuck shop and snacks , will be open during this event. Tea and Coffee will be provided during the event. This event must be booked in advance through Event Brite. Guests may request to book adjacent cells and this will be accommodated where possible.
