A West Heath man has been jailed for sexual assaults on buses earlier this year.
A series of sexual assaults on the 47 bus in south Birmingham were reported to West Midlands Police on 21st and 22nd May.
Following an appeal, Kamran Ali, 31, of Clunbury Road was arrested on Friday 8th June after being spotted by members of the public at a bus stop in Turves Green.
Ali was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court last week after admitting three counts of sexual assault.
Birmingham Live reports that the court heard that Ali, who is profoundly deaf, had touched the three women sexually while on the buses: from touching the first victim’s knee through ripped jeans and grabbing her breast, to attempting to pull down the tights of the third victim.
According to the report: “Ali trapped his victims forcing them to climb over him so he could carry out another attack. When challenged by a victim, the court heard that Ali burst out laughing.”
Sentencing Ali to 2 years on prison, Birmingham Live report that Judge Richard Bond said: “The women were vulnerable and sitting on their own. I have no doubt that even before you got on the bus your intention was to sexually assault them for your own sexual gratification.”
