Police appeal for witnesses to Woodgate shooting

West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was shot in an incident in Woodgate on Sunday (23rd September).

The incident happened in Gravel Bank, South Woodgate, in broad daylight at around 2.40pm.

Three men chased the 23 year old man down an alleyway and he was shot in the shoulder.

A police spokesperson said that luckily the man’s injuries were not life-threatening and he had been discharge from hospital.

They said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack and we’re working hard to try and understand why this has happened and who is responsible.”

Officers are making house-to-house enquiries and checking CCTV images.

The spokesperson said: “We would appreciate anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant it seems, to get in touch as it could be valuable to our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police on Live Chat at www.west-midlands.police.uk (8am – midnight) or to call 101 any time. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit www.crimestoppers-uk.org

  1. I can’t believe the police seem to think this was a “unprovoked” attack. People don’t go round shooting other people for no particular reason. But then again shootings are so common in these parts that the police consider this as just another routine enquiry.

Birmingham, as with all the major cities in the UK, seems to be heading for oblivion with rising crime, soft sentences and a shrinking police force unable to cope. Am glad to be leaving all this behind when my house sells, the city is almost out of control.

  2. This country has finally lost the plot. Prisoners running the prisons. Warders who have been told to call them ‘mr’. And also bringing in drugs mobile phones etc the list goes on and on. The courts who would rather crawl up their own backside than give out a just and proper sentence. And finally. (l could go on for another hour) a country who would rather give 14 billion to foreign aid and l may add hasn’t got a bloody clue where half of it ends up. Then sort out this countries problems. You couldn’t make it up. I sometimes think l’m in a drug induced dream nightmare. But no. I’m not. This country has gone to the dogs. And I wish to hell l could get out of it.
