Alternative Voices is a theatre company which provides an accessible space for young people and minority groups to perform and have their voices heard!
The theatre company, who were awarded Arts Council funding, embarked on a challenge to create a piece of ‘forum theatre’ within a nine week rehearsal period. With a team of seven actors and seven members of a production team, the talented group chose three themes to create a piece around Identity, Justice and belonging.
One of the actors performing is Michaela Mooney, who is studying beauty at Bournville College and is diagnosed with Autism. She said: “It’s a good opportunity and a chance for people with disabilities/learning difficulties that don’t always have a chance to show what they’re made of.”

Founder and artistic director Madeleine Levy said: “We are a group of actors with various diagnosed conditions who wish to be seen for our talents rather than our disabilities”
Physical Comedy and Forum Theatre collide as Black Canvas invites you into this unique and pivotal investigation of Identity, Belonging and Justice. By turns hilarious and heartbreaking, realistic and uplifting, each of you are invited to raise your own Alternative Voice as we explore that which makes us different, and that which makes us similar.
Expect to be challenged, expect to be welcomed, expect the unexpected.
