The woman, in her late 50s, was walking in Middleton Hall Road between Cotteridge and Station Road at around 4.30pm. A man pulled on the strap of her handbag, which caused her to fall to the floor.

The woman let go of the bag and the man ran off with it.

Officers later found the bag in a nearby garden. Around £20 had been taken from it.

The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment to cuts and bruising to her shoulder and is now recovering at home.
