ROUTE LEARNING of 400 West Midlands Railways staff who operate Cross-City rail services has commenced ahead of the service being extended from Longbridge to Bromsgrove, writes Neil Gordon.
Around 240 drivers and 160 conductors are currently undertaking route-learning on the section of line to Bromsgrove ahead of the much anticipated new rail service commencing on 29th July.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Railways said: “Staff need to learn the route and type of trains that they will be working on.”
Training covers route features including stations, junctions, points and bridges and signal types and locations. Also TPS (Train Planning System), commencement and formation points, power supply and authorised walking routes.
The spokesperson added: “Once Network Rail confirms that the newly electrified section of infrastructure is ready to go live, then we’ll be ready.”
