Eight crews from West Midlands Fire Service are currently tackling a fire at a music venue in Kings Norton (11pm Sunday 18th March).

Crews from as far as Erdington were reported to be tackling the blaze at The Roadhouse in Lifford Lane, which has been closed since September last year.

Lifford Lane was closed to traffic at the junction with Pershore Road while firefighters dealt with the incident at the Wharfside Leisure Complex.

In an announcement in September, management of the club said that they had had to close: “due to circumstances that were totally beyond [our] control”.

At the time, the club’s management hoped to have the venue back open within 6 months, saying: “To be clear – The Roadhouse Birmingham is going nowhere – it will continue to be a live music venue in the long term.”

The Roadhouse is a well known alternative venue in the city and wider West Midlands, where many artists – local and from further afield – have performed.
