Man arrested after determined police pursuit following Northfield car robbery


Determined West Midlands Police officers pursued and quickly arrested a man yesterday (Tuesday 2nd January) after a car was stolen from a woman at knifepoint in Northfield. 

The white Ford Focus was stolen from a woman in Wychall Road just before 11pm, after a man threatened her with what was believed to be a knife.

Officers were quickly in pursuit in numbers and readers reported the pursuit around the West Heath / Kings Norton area.

The pursuit ended less than half an hour later in Bristol Road South, Longbridge close to the Lickey Road junction.

The man, 37, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, drink driving, failing to stop and dangerous driving and he remained in police custody this morning.

It is believed the man had been involved in a domestic incident earlier in the evening, when armed police officers descended on a home in Rednal.

No-one was hurt in either incident.


  1. no one was hurt.? if someone held a knife to your throat your not gonna forget that. it will always stay with you. your not sure what emotional state this poor women will go through in the future. the lives put in danger speading through the streets of south birmingham…. no 1 was hurt think them are not the right words to say….
