A woman and three children were rescued from a severe fire in a Bartley Green flat in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 26th November).

Fire crews attended just after 1am to find a well established fire in a flat above a shop in Curdale Road. The first crew arrived within 4 minutes and fire fighters in breathing apparatus rescued the four occupants from the upstairs windows using ladders.

All four were taken to hospital – their condition is unknown at this point.

The severity of the fire meant that crews from 6 fire stations were called to attend: Woodgate, Northfield, Kings Norton, Bournbrook, Haden Cross and West Bromwich. A massive thanks to all the crews for everything they do for our communities.

West Midlands Fire Service said this morning that the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

This article will be updated if and when any new information becomes available.
