West Midlands Police negotiators have brought a safe resolution to a situation where a woman was held fo 8 hours in a Weoley Castle home overnight by a man believed to be in possession of knives and a baseball bat.
Officers were called to the address in Marston Road just after midnight today (Monday 27th November) following concerns for the woman’s welfare.
After establishing that the man was inside with her – and believed to have a baseball bat and knives – the area around the property was sealed off and specially trained negotiators were called to the scene. Specially trained negotiators were sent to the scene and an area around the property was cordoned off.
Eight hours later, at around 8.35am, officers entered the address and the incident was brought safely to an end.
The woman was checked over by paramedics but was thankfully unharmed.
A 23 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment. He was treated at the scene for self inflicted injuries which are not believed to be serious.
Officers remain in the area to reassure local residents.
