A 37 year old local man has been arrested after video footage of him being challenged by a group of “paedophile hunters” was live streamed on Facebook on Tuesday evening (31st October).
The group claim to have evidence that the man sent inappropriate messages on a messaging app to a decoy account which he believed to be that of a 12 year old girl.
The video was made by ‘The Innocence Keepers’. Their Facebook page states: “Our aim is to safeguard all children from predators on the internet by catching as many paedophiles as we can and ensuring we get them off the streets by getting convictions.”
West Midlands Police have today confirmed that a 37 year old man was arrested yesterday (Wednesday 1st November) on suspicion of grooming and remains in police custody.
A spokesman said: “We are aware of a video circulating on social media showing an incident on 31 October where police were called to an address by members of a group known as the Innocence Keepers.
“Officers have made contact with the group involved and have arranged to speak to them.”
