Thank you to all those who have made suggestions to name the new community hub coming to Northfield, or who have voted in our poll.

We asked you for name suggestions, which were then reduced to a shortlist of 3 at the last Northfield Stakeholders Group meeting.

We have now totted up votes that were cast online on B31 Voices and in ballot boxes at Northfield Community Partnership and Northfield Baptist Church.

It was a very close poll and we are pleased to announce the final results as follows…..

• Community Fusion – 32% (131)
• Mosaic – 32% (132)
Our Space Our Place – 36% (150)

Thank you!

On behalf of Northfield Stakeholders Group and Northfield Community Partnership, we want to also particularly thank the local community who have really got behind us as we’ve begun the work to make the space usable.

Redecorating the premises has been a massive undertaking, and we are particularly indebted to the Princes Trust, the police and local Weoley and Northfield PCSOs, Northfield Baptist Church youth group, Northfield Community Partnership, CASBA, Northfield Arts Forum, pupils and staff from Bellfield Junior School, Richard Burden MP and his office team, Councillors Brett O’Reilly and Ian Cruise and many, many others who have given freely of their time, expertise and energy to help us make the space usable.

We are very grateful to them for their willingness and eagerness to help, and are now approaching the final phase in the work.

Community space & opportunities

The premises – which will be officially opened by MP Richard Burden on 1st August – will be home to a number of local charities which serve the immediate community, offering practical help and support for seeking work, mental health issues, benefits issues, arts workshops and creative spaces, counselling guidance and a whole range of other services, including a local radio station.

It will provide community space and opportunities to the wider district.

We look forward to working with local organisations and stakeholders in developing this community resource and truly making it Our Space, Our Place.
