Please note: Two homes were raided as part of this operation. All arrests and recoveries relate to one address in Bedlam Wood Road. This was not made clear in the original police statement but has since been confirmed on request. This post has been amended for clarity*
West Midlands Police have made 3 arrests and seized the three guns and ammunition during a raid on a Northfield home in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 6th June).
The property in Bedlam Wood Road was raided during a pre-planned operation, with three guns being recovered.
The raid, part of an ongoing crackdown on gangs and organised crime, followed an investigation into shots being fired in Bristol Road South on 13th May. No-one was injured during that incident.
Two men (31 and 23) and a 16 year old boy were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and remain in custody for questioning.
*A second address in Farren Road was also raided as part of the operation. Nothing was recovered and no arrests were made from this address.
Detective Sergeant Adam Hicklin, from Force CID, said: “The seizure of these guns and cartridges should reassure the public how seriously we take the illegal possession of firearms.
“This was a pre-planned operation and we anticipate there will be more in the future. A gun in the wrong hands can have potentially very serious consequences.
