West Midlands Police have made 3 arrests and seized the three guns and ammunition during raids on two Northfield properties in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 6th June).

Properties in Bedlam Wood Road and Farren Road were raided during a pre-planned operation, with three guns being recovered.

The raids, part of an ongoing crackdown on gangs and organised crime, followed an investigation into shots being fired in Bristol Road South on 13th May. No-one was injured during that incident.

Two men (31 and 23) and a 16 year old boy were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Sergeant Adam Hicklin, from Force CID, said: “The seizure of these guns and cartridges should reassure the public how seriously we take the illegal possession of firearms.

“This was a pre-planned operation and we anticipate there will be more in the future. A gun in the wrong hands can have potentially very serious consequences.

“The public are our eyes and ears on the ground; if you suspect anyone is involved in gang related crime or anti-social behaviour please contact us on 101; or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
