A man was arrested in the early hours of this morning in connection with a shooting incident in Bartley Green at the weekend.

The 20 year old was arrested at his home address on suspicion of attempted murder, as well as a number of burglaries across south Birmingham.

A 29 year old man received an injury to his arm after being shot on Sunday (30th April) afternoon in Parkside in the Woodgate Valley. He fled the scene, making his own way to hospital, where he remains with a none life-threatening injury.

Two vehicles were recovered from the scene for forensic examinations.

The shooting came hours after two men were stabbed in nearby Simmons Leasowe. 

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “This is a significant arrest in our efforts to tackle violent crime and we are continuing to search an address in Bartley Green.”

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who has any information that may help police with their enquiries is asked to come forward.
