Generous Northfield shoppers have helped the UK’s leading stationers to raise thousands for Comic Relief after hosting a number of fun-filled activities in-store.
Ryman Stationery, based in Northfield Shopping Centre, has raised more than £2,500 after encouraging its customers to get involved in their charity fundraising by hosting a teddy bear tombola and fancy dress day, whilst also selling handmade cards and Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day pens.
Yvonne Bowman, Store Manager at Northfield’s Ryman Stationery, which is an official charity partner of Comic Relief, said it had been a fantastic month of fundraising at the store. “We are so pleased to have raised more than £2,500 in aid of Red Nose Day,” she said. “Throughout March, staff in-store did all sorts to fundraise for the charity, which included shoppers giving a small donation to get involved in our tombola, whilst the staff dressed up as pirates and cowgirls.
“The one thing that raised the most money was the official Red Nose Day pens,” Yvonne added. “In a month, we sold 2,200 and as a company Ryman Stationery has managed to raise more than £600,000 just from the pen sales.
“There has been a great response to our fundraising with the people of Northfield being incredibly generous and we can’t thank them enough for their support of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day,” Yvonne added.
Comic Relief, which was founded in 1985, is a major UK charity raising funds to help end poverty through well-known campaigns Red Nose Day and Sports Relief, which are designed to support people living tough lives in the UK and Africa.
Adam Meade, Northfield Shopping Centre manager, said he is proud of the store’s fundraising efforts. “Charity fundraising is very important to us at Northfield, so we are really pleased that Ryman Stationery has taken part in Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day,” he said.
“Throughout March, we have been encouraging shoppers, staff and the centre team to pop into the store to show their support with a small donation and they have all been extremely generous, managing to help raise more than £2,500.
“The fancy dress day on Wednesday was also a massive success for the store, with all staff wearing costumes, wigs and even pyjamas to encourage customers to give an extra donation,” he added. “We would like to say a huge well done to Yvonne and the team at Ryman Stationery and thank you to the people of Northfield for their support of Comic Relief.”
