Ark Rose Primary Academy can now add outstanding catering to its list of achievements, after the school’s catering supervisor was recognised for her hard work and dedication to delicious dinners.
Chrissy Jackson, who has been cooking school meals for more than 25 years, was nominated by her employer, CityServe, to spend the day cooking at fine dining restaurant Purnells in Birmingham.
She worked side-by-side with Michelin-starred restauranteur Glynn Purnell, learning tips and tricks from the very top of the catering trade.
Chrissy said: “I just love cooking. The kids at Ark Rose are such lovely children. I’ve got a great team behind me in the kitchen here and we all look after them.”
Ark Rose is community school in Kings Norton, which boasts its own allotment. Chrissy is part of the school’s Gardening Club, which grows apples, peas, beetroot and rosemary to use in freshly prepared meals.
Claire Pettit, Client Manager at CityServe, said: “Chrissy is a breath of fresh air, and she is so enthusiastic. She also runs Rose’s cookery and breakfast clubs.”
