Well-known Birmingham graffiti artist Dan Newso has been working with students at Turves Green Girls’ School (TGGS) over the past few months to develop ideas for a visually exciting mural that celebrates Longbridge of the past, present and future.

cti9an7wyaeilet-jpg-largeDan Newso has begun painting the mural with help from 33 year 10 art students, on the concrete wall to the right of Longbridge Train Station.

The mural will be a bright and colourful addition to the local landscape and will include images that reference the heritage of the area, including the Rover factory. The school has been supported by Northfield Housing Liaison Board and Longbridge Public Art Project (LPAP) in commissioning Newso, and the artwork will be completed in time for the Longbridge Light Festival 2016.

Sarah Barton, Head of Expressive Arts at Turves Green Girls’ School, said:

“We are thrilled that our GCSE students have had the opportunity to work with such an artist of Newso’s calibre, on a public art project that will have an impact on the community they live in.”
