The popular hight street store chain Wilko have recalled the children’s toy Sparkle Girlz Winter Princess Doll due to potential safety issues.

stream_imgThe product has been identified to contain higher than expected levels of phthalates that consequently may present a risk to children if placed in the mouth.

Phthalates are chemicals used to make plastics more flexible and harder to break. In the past few years, research has linked phthalates to autism, asthma, breast cancer and many other conditions.

The recall applies to all four varieties of the doll, item code 0417591.

A spokesperson at Wilko said “Nothing matters more to us than our customers’ safety – so if you’ve purchased this product from us, please return it to any of our stores for a full refund of the purchase price.
