Pupils were sent home from two Weoley Castle Primary Schools this morning, after a ‘bomb threat’ phone call was received.

Staff took the decision to close Princethorpe Junior and Princethorpe Infant & Nursery Schools after consulting with West Midlands Police.

A text to parent’s from the school read: “Junior School received an anonymous bomb threat.

“The decision to close was not taken lightly and we apologise for any inconvenience but the safety of pupils and staff is paramount.”

The text said: “We are currently liaising with the Police who are investigating the matter and we expect the school to be open as normal tomorrow.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Officers believe the report to be false and malicious and it is not being linked to previous hoax calls made to schools in the West Midlands area.”
