The alleged incident took place between 8am and 9am on Wednesday morning (13 April), as the girl aged 9 was walking on Crown Meadow, Alvechurch.
It is said a male in a white van approached the young girl and asked for directions, he then opened the passenger door and asked her to get into the vehicle to show him the way.
The girl declined the mans invitation and ran off, even though she was not injured in anyway, she was understandably shaken by the encounter.
The offender is believed to be white male, with dark hair and a dark beard, he was also described to having a deep voice.
It is believed the vehicle was a white Ford Escort or Citroen Berlingo- type van.
Det Sgt Martin Grant said: “We have been carrying out a number of enquiries and patrols in the local area and we would like to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident.
“We will continue to conduct further patrols and make further enquiries.
“We would encourage parents to speak with their children about talking to strangers. We would ask children to never go off with anyone they do not know, get into a vehicle with a stranger, accept gifts off a stranger or wander off on their own.”
