Visitors to Northfield Shopping Centre were treated to a fashion spectacle when top models took to a giant catwalk to showcase the latest styles.

Fashion on the Move saw the models taking part in a flash mob, much to the delight of shoppers who, inspired by the looks they had seen, could snap up the outfits in the centre’s stores.

Shoppers still have the chance to win £50 to spend in their chosen store at the centre in an online competition, which runs until April 9.

Retailers taking part in the event, hosted by former international model Sally Mansell, included Dorothy Perkins, New Look, JD Sports, Peacocks, Bon Marche, Little Italy, Bags4u and Select.

Midlands-based Sally, who has also hosted parties for Hollywood A-listers George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg, transformed the shopping centre into a giant catwalk. Models and performers burst into dance every hour, showing off the latest looks available in the mall.

Shopper Bettina Reece, from Bournville, who was visiting Northfield Shopping centre with her nieces Keeley Humphrey, six and her little sister Taylor, two, pupils at Court Farm Primary School in Erdington, thought the event was brilliant.

“We didn’t know about it but it was lovely and really colourful,” she said. “The girls were dancing along to it and some of the fashions on show were really nice. I bought some clothes for my nephew Callum after seeing them on the catwalk.”

Northfield Shopping Centre manager Adam Meade said: “It was a terrific event, with Sally putting on quite a performance for the shoppers with her fashion show.

“With her background as a model, stylist and presenter, she certainly knows her stuff when it comes to the latest trends and our customers enjoyed getting some free fashion advice from one of the best stylists in the country.”
