Longbridge Retirement Village is due to open in 2017. So, what exactly is it and who is it for?
Where is it?
Set on five acres fronting Lickey Road on the edge of Longbridge Town Centre, the Village will provide 260 one and two bed apartments, carefully designed to encourage and support an independent and enriching lifestyle.
Who runs it?
The Village will be run by ExtraCare, a charitable trust dedicated to giving older people: “an independent, safe and secure future in a network of inspirational communities.” established in 1988. The Charity supports 4,400 older people in 17 Housing Schemes and 14 Villages across the Midlands and the North of England.
Who can live there?
- Over 55 years old
- Local resident
- Couples or single tenants
- ExtraCare aims to ensure that homes are affordable for all, even for those with limited financial means. If you are on a limited income, call 0870 777 4800 for advice.
What are the Longbridge Village facilities?
Facilities: to include:
- Village hall
- Bar and bistro
- IT suite
- Hair and beauty salon
Activities: Up to 50 activities will be on offer every week including choir singing, IT, wheelchair aerobics and gardening.
Care: If you have, or may develop, care needs, Extracare provide their own service, or you can arrange your own carers. Extracare are committed to dementia care and the site will have a team of specialist dementia support workers.
Can local residents use the facilities?
If you are an older person living in the Longbridge area you will be welcome to take part in the activities in the Village.
What is Longbridge Village Friends?
The Friends group is a great opportunity to meet with other people who are interested in Longbridge Retirement Village, as potential residents or site users, even before the Village is open.
Monthly meetings will keep you up to date with the latest Village news and give you the chance to ask questions – as well as perhaps meeting your future neighbours!
You can meet residents from other ExtraCare Villages, join in activity groups and have your general queries answered.
