A teenage boy has presented himself to police after an appeal for information on an incident where woman was injured by a brick thrown at a bus in Northfield.

The 42 year old woman, Jo, suffered a skull fracture and needed several stitches when the brick smashed through the window of the number 18 bus in Holloway on Monday evening.

An appeal for information was posted on B31 Voices yesterday afternoon after the incident was reported by Jo, the victim.  It was also reported on Midlands Today in the evening.

Following the media coverage, a 14 year old boy – accompanied by his mother – presented himself at his local police station.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “He will be formally interviewed by officers in due course. Police are also visiting the victim to take an official statement.

“In addition to regular officers patrolling the region’s transport network in plain clothes and uniform, Safer Travel has officers from West Midlands Police and British Transport Police who target offenders using bus, trams and trains.

“The efforts of officers, staff and public transport officials have resulted in transport-related crime across the region driven down to new lows.”

  1. Terrible for the woman who had to deal with this ordeal.
And what punishment will the 14 year old child get.don’t tell me a Birmingham city council asbo of the year award, along with a tracksuit and baseball cap so he can look like 50cent.

What is wrong with younger people today..!!!

  2. bob I don’t think there is anything wrong with younger people today or any day most are great but like with all walks of life thee are real some dick heads and he clearly nearly killed someone and I hope like you he feels the full weight of the law.

  3. I really don’t know what is wrong with some youngsters. Why would they even think it is acceptable to throw a brick at a bus or at anything else. I am glad he has had the sense to come forward and I only hope that he receives just punishment for carrying out such an act, because if he is capable of doing something like that at age 14, goodness knows what he will be capable of when he’s older. I wish Jo a speedy recovery.

  4. Shut BOB you doughnut what a fruitcake you are. FairPlay to the kid came forward shows he a good lad deep down was probly just wanting to impress lads he thought he needed to impress tryna to fit in. Wish all the best to Jo thou hope she has full recovery. Godbless..

  5. Our mom wouldn’t go running to the old bill, but she would have told the old man who would have knocked seven shades out of us.
That kids gotta be looking at eight years at least he will miss the crucial last couple of years schooling and struggle to ever get a job now. if he never bothered with school he’s better off inside from her point of view, no point wasting time on a looser. Another drain on the tax payer here we come!
    Not to mention the window and the medical bill for that poor woman. This kids already cost us a fortune his mother should foot the bill for the lot ;
    The damage
    The paramedics
Lost revenue to the bus company and passengers
    Police time
    Court costs
    Compensation

I would put money on it she’s a benefit scrounger mom that were already carrying and have been for years disgraceful in every way

  6. Very unfair judgement Jeri. I had a younger relative a few years back in a bit of a hard phase, not very pleasant. His mother did her very best (luckily things are great now) but judgement could of been passed to her yet she is a very caring kind woman who manages dementia care homes and has never scrounged a benefit in her life!! Yet she had a one child who was unmanageable, her other 3 children worked and were fine! DO NOT PASS JUDGEMENT!!

I say fair play to him owning up to his terrible mistake. Whats the point in casting a young lad off before he’s even begun? I through a conctrete block at a friends head in the street when I was 8 years old – I paid the price for that and more than learnt a lesson!!! (the friend was OK!).

Where is the hope for anyone with the kind of attitude of people like Jeri??????

Don’t just write people off because their a single perent or because they claim benefits.
