Crews from Northfield and Kings Norton fire stations rescued a man and his cat following a kitchen fire in West Heath this afternoon (11th November).

Firefighters administered oxygen to Muller the cat before a Birmingham City Council housing caretaking team (@NorthfieldHsng) safely delivered him to a neighbour’s home to be cared for.

@northfieldfire tweeted that both were: “…alive and well ?” after the rescue.

Kings Norton Blue Watch said on their station’s Facebook page: “‘Rendering humanitarian services’ a term I remember from basic training 28 years ago, some things won’t change, all part of the job.”

Well done to all involved.

We wish Muller and his owner a speedy recovery!
