West Midlands Police have released dramatic footage of a car chase in the Lydiate Ash area after two men were jailed.

The two were arrested after a stolen car was spotted on the M5 and pursued onto the A38 towards Birmingham in April.

The car was blockaded by motorway police (CMPG) cars but the driver tried to ram his way out with the Vauxhall Insignia, stolen from Stirchley. The vehicle was brought to a stop and three occupants were arrested.

One occupant tried to run from the scene but was tracked by a police helicopter using thermal imaging and subsequently arrested.

Driver Daryl Gordon (left), 24, from Cotteridge, was jailed for 14 months and banned from driving for two years for aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving at a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on 29th September.

Passenger Kenny Field (right), 29, from Frankley, was jailed for 12 months for aggravated vehicle taking.

Two other passengers were acquitted in court.
