West Midlands Police are seeking the driver of a silver Vauxhall Zafira that left the scene after a motorcyclist was tragically killed in a collision in Weoley Castle this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the accident in Alwold Road just before 4.30pm where a man, in his thirties, had been injured when his motorbike was involved in a collision with a car.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a motorcyclist that had suffered serious injuries in a crash and was in cardiac arrest.

“Medics carried out emergency treatment including advanced life support and lengthy attempts at resuscitation. Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

The man’s family have been informed and are being supported by West Midlands Police officers.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen a silver Vaxuhall Zafira in or around the area at the time. The car is likely to have front end damage.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Sergeant Alan Wood from the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.

Alwold Road will remain closed at the Brinklow Road junction for several hours while the scene is fully investigated.

Our thoughts go out to the man’s family and friends at this sad time.
