A 54 year old woman from Selly Oak is helping police with their enquiries after a Vauxhall Zafira, believed to have been involved in a fatal road collision in Weoley Castle yesterday, was traced and seized.

Motorcyclist Simon Franey, 38 from Northfield, died at the scene of the accident in Alwold Road.

Simon’s family are being supported by police officers.

Following the accident, police appealed for information on the Zafira which is believed to have left the scene after being involved in the collision.

Sergeant Alan Wood, from the force’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We continue to investigate the circumstances around the collision are we are asking for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to come forward.

“Our thoughts remain with the family of Simon and specialist officers continue to liaise with them at this sad time.”

Anyone with information is urged to call Sergeant Alan Wood from the Collision Investigation Unit on 101. Alternatively people can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers the independent charity on 0800 555 111.

Our thoughts go out to Simon’s family and friends at this difficult time.
