Police in south Birmingham are investigating after a woman was attacked as she walked in the Woodgate area in the early hours of yesterday.
The 22-year-old woman, was grabbed as she walked along an alleyway at the back of Rickyard Piece, Woodgate around 2.37am on Sunday 2 August.
A man, described as dark-skinned, 6ft and wearing dark clothing, grabbed the woman and sexually assaulted her before running off.
The woman is being supported by specially trained police officers while enquiries are underway to trace the man.
Local officers are carrying out house to house enquires and forensic examinations of the scene have taken place.
Detective Constable Karl Mumby from the force’s public protection unit said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in or around the Rickyard Piece area of Woodgate in the early hours of Sunday to contact us. Investigations are at an early stage and we need people to come forward with any detail that may help trace the man responsible for the attack.”
He added: “We also believe that two men were seen arguing in the location around the time of the attack and we are appealing for these men to contact us with any information they may have.”
