On the morning of our first posting at B31 Voices, we have a message from our Headteacher, Mr Doherty, about our GCSE and A-level results.
Many thanks to B31 Voices for hosting us and we look forward to some regular updates about the school and the community in the year ahead.
Headteacher, Barry Doherty writes…
“We are very proud of our Year 11 and 13 students in this very significant year in the school’s history: We are delighted to share the news that 90% of our first ever cohort of sixth formers are now preparing for their first choice university, with the remainder going to a university of their choice. This follows superb whole school and individual performances last week and inspires the next generation of Colmers students to aspire to be the very best.
“It is early days but we are on course for our best ever GCSE results. Results in English, Mathematics and Science are particularly strong and ensure we have a very, very strong backbone at this school. In particular, the number of students achieving the A* and A grades has risen very significantly, especially in the three core subjects plus History, Geography, Art and RE.
“The percentage of students achieving five or more good passes, including English and Maths, has risen very significantly, with the percentage of those passing their English and Double Science GCSEs up by over 10% in both subjects.
“The Governing Body and I are proud to be associated with such hardworking students whose families continue to play a greater role in helping us secure individual and school success. We also wish to pay tribute to our teaching and associate staff who have again given everything for the children in this community.”
