The grieving family of a man who was tragically killed following a quad bike accident in Quinton last week have joined calls for a change in the law.
Despite all efforts, Ricky sadly passed away on Friday.
A statement from Ricky’s family said: “Ricky was a loving husband and devoted father of three sons, supporting his wife through breast cancer until her recent remission.
“After he died, Ricky’s organ donations mean four people have now received new hope in their fight for health – something that has made us immensely proud.”
And the family are supporting a petition to make wearing a helmet when riding a quad bike on the road a requirement: “As a result of this incident, we as a family are calling for a change to the law and have signed the following petition asking for riders of quad bikes to be legally required to wear helmets.”
Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force’s Collision Investigation Unit, added: “This is a tragic event which has left a family devastated.
“I would like to thank all of the public who have spoken to us so far as we investigate the circumstances surrounding this fatal collision.
“I’d urge anyone who hasn’t already spoken to police to contact myself or my team on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Our thoughts go out to Ricky’s brave family and friends at this very difficult time.
