From our youth correspondent, Albie Taylor:

The new IMAX screen opened at the Empire Cinema at Rubery Great Park last week and B31 Voices was invited along to sample the big screen experience.

Luckily for me, I was chosen to go along!

IMG_2766I watched Jurassic World in the IMAX section of the Empire Cinema last Sunday afternoon.

The IMAX was a new experience to me. One of the screen rooms has been newly kitted out to house the big screen, with new seating too – there seems to be more seats, and there is the same provision for disabled visitors.

At first the difference didn’t seem so great… until the movie began, and the projections flicked into the 3D mode!

IMG_2763I was amazed with the larger than average screen which made you feel like you were in the movie!

The high definition sound, produced intense vibrations rushing around you, in sync with 3D images. This is so exhilarating: you can feel the adrenaline not certain whether you have just been eaten by a Tyrannosaurus Rex!

The film is rated 12A – due to the content which may be a bit scary and bloody for a more sensitive youngster!

I enjoyed this film and the experience was truly awesome.

You can see upcoming IMAX films and book your seats on the Empire Cinema website.
