Year 11 students from ARK Kings Academy celebrated finishing their GCSEs at a school prom held at the Westmead Hotel near Redditch on Friday evening.

Students arrived at the Westmead Hotel dressed in their finest clothes. Some even hired luxury cars to really make an entrance. After a relaxed drinks reception (soft drinks naturally), students enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner followed by dancing and merriment.

Proms are an important milestone in many young peoples lives but for students at ARK Kings Academy, the evening held a special significance. The prom was the last time the students they will come together as group. In September, students will follow their own individual paths, continuing their studies at colleges in Birmingham and beyond.

“We are very proud of the class of 2015 and the commitment they have made to their education. We are confident our students will leave ARK Kings Academy with the knowledge, skills and character they need to be successful in life, education and employment.”

The future of ARK Kings Academy

It is a time of significant change for ARK Kings Academy. Last year, the academy celebrated their best set of GCSE results yet with the number of students achieving five A*- C grades, including English and maths, jumping 22 percentage points to 46%.

This summer, work begins on building a brand new school building, which students and staff will moved into at the start of 2017. You can find out more about the academy’s plans by visiting: arkkingsacademy.org/about-us/our-new-school-building
