As part of our coverage of 2015 local and General elections, we have invited candidates from Northfield and Bromsgrove constituencies (general election) and Kings Norton, Longbridge, Northfield, Weoley, Rubery North and Rubery South wards (local elections) to send in 500 Words describing themselves and their campaign.
This from Birmingham Longbridge ward candidate for the UK Independence Party (UKIP), Kevin Morris
My name is Kevin Morris, Ukip’s council candidate for the Longbridge Ward. Please read the whole of this presentation, before you decide who to vote for.
I was brought up from the age of twelve, in Farren Road, Longbridge, I went to Shenley Court Comprehensive school, and after leaving I started, as a lot of people did, working in Box Foldier. Afrer, I worked at British Leyland, and spent some of my leisure time in the King George the IV pub. As you know, both of these have gone thanks to the previous governments mismanagement.
Later I became a Prison Officer, and went on to work for the Crown Prosecution service. My wife, daughter and myself moved to a council tenancy on the Redditch Road in Kings Norton where we experienced awful Anti-Social behaviour, such as drug dealing, drinking and loud music. The council kept on saying “Fill the diaries out”, I was frightened for my wife, daughter and grandchildren, who did receive constant abuse and threats from these people until I went to court against them and succeeded in prosecuting the offenders. For my bravery, I received a Lord Mayor’s award, a Good Citizens award off West Midlands police, and a Raftas Award, signed by Tony Blair which I was proud of until I joined Ukip, now I am not so sure.
I am now a coach driver by trade, dealing mainly with special needs children, taking them to and from a local school (within the B29 Area). I do a normal job similar to yourselves. I am not a millionaire, and the only property I own, is the one I live in, which is a modest bungalow. I can relate to you and your needs. I will fight for you, as your Councillor.
As we are told to do by Ukip, you first party second.
I will say, what I feel at the time if I feel your rights are being compromised. I stand for local housing for local people. I don’t see why someone that has lived in their home for most of their lives, should be forced to move out, because a family from the European Union, walk into this country and are allowed to take it from you, just because your children have grown up, It is still your home, and I will fight to keep it that way.
The same as, I believe in local jobs for local people and despite the rubbish the media feed you, it does not matter the colour of your skin. If you are a British Citizen, I stand for your rights. Do not let the liberal elite steal our country from beneath our feet. We fought two world wars to stop this.
When you go into that polling booth, there is no one to bully you, It is just you and your conscience, vote for Ukip, and save our country, or do nothing and allow all our forefathers sacrifices to be in vain.
