As part of our coverage of 2015 local and General elections, we have invited candidates from Northfield and Bromsgrove constituencies (general election) and Kings Norton, Longbridge, Northfield, Weoley, Rubery North and Rubery South wards (local elections) to send in 500 Words describing themselves and their campaign.

This from Birmingham Northfield ward candidate for the UK Independence Party (UKIP), Claire Braund.

Clair Braund UKIP

On the 7th May, if you haven’t already returned a postal vote, you will have the opportunity to cast your vote in both the local and general election.

Northfield ward is part of the greater Northfield Constituency. There are 10 constituencies in Birmingham, each comprising of 4 wards, in each ward there are 3 councillors. For Northfield ward your serving councillors are Randal Brew (Conservative) and Brett O’Reilly (Labour), the third councillor, the one who will join those already serving is up to you.

My name is Clair Braund and I am the UK Independence Party candidate for the Northfield ward. I would like to join the existing Labour and Conservative councillors to work as a team in the interests of you, the people of Northfield. UKIP have an ideology, a UKIP politician is a servant of the people they represent and will always act in the interest of the residents. Residents first, party second, and this has been demonstrated in the wards we hold up and down the country. If a job needs doing, we get it done, even if it means getting our hands dirty and picking the litter ourselves.

Not only am I candidate, I am currently branch chair-person, overseeing the running of the election campaign in five constituencies across the city. I have earned my position through hard work, dedicating 7 days a week to politics because I like nothing better than doing a job well. Once the election campaign is over I want to dedicate those 7 days a week to the people of Northfield, and whilst a councillors job is technically a part time job, I will give my full time and full commitment to all living in Northfield, because I strive to be the best I can be in whatever I do, and am far too dedicated to ever be a part-timer.

A vote for Clair Braund is a vote for a strong UKIP voice ready to give you the residents of Northfield the representation you deserve. No job is too big, or small, I guarantee my commitment to you.

  2. Hi Claire

You haven’t actually detailed what you as a councillor will do for Northfield, all I read is how good you are at your job. What issues do you plan to tackle and in what way? Do you know Northfield? Have you ever lived here? As an undecided voter it would be good to know the answers to these questions before deciding whether to give you my vote.
    Kind regards
