From Lickey Hills Geo-Champions:
Join the Lickey Hills Geo-Champions for a Guided Walk Through 488 MILLION Years of Geological History!
The Lickey Hills Geo-Champions were set up in 2011 by the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Earth Heritage Trust and as a small group of volunteers we work with the Birmingham Parks Ranger Service to look after and promote geology and the history of quarrying in the Lickey Hills, and we try to get as many people involved as possible and to encourage an interest in the local area.
On Easter Sunday (April 5th), we will be hosting a free, guided walk around the Champions Trail and taking visitors into a closed quarry, as well as a freely accessible quarry. For those with an interest in local history, geology, geography or even botany, it is a great walk and is suitable for all ages. It’ll also be a great way to burn some calories before you eat Easter eggs and regain them all!
This walk will last around one and a half hours and is suitable for all ages, but does cover uneven ground so please wear strong footwear! Meet at the visitor centre for just before 11am.
