IMG_5624-0.JPGWest Midlands Police detectives have arrested three individuals in connection with mobile phone robberies in Longbridge ward last weekend.

Three mobile phones and other items were stolen in two separate incidents. The first robbery took place at around 8pm on Friday 27th February in Frankley Beeches Road, Northfield, close to the Tesco store. Police were called by the mother of one of the teenagers. The lad said he and his two friends had been surrounded by a group of teenagers who stole his Samsung Galaxy S5 phone and a woolly hat.

In a second incident, three local teenage boys reported that they were surrounded by a group of around five teenagers in the car park of Gala Bingo at Rubery Great Park at around 5.30pm on Saturday 28th February. The group stole two iPhones and a bag from them.

DC Cockbill of the Acquisitive Crime Team said: “At present, three suspects have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and are subject of a live investigation. Property has been recovered. CID are working closely with the local neighbourhood team to increase high visibility patrols and provide reassurance to the public.”

Longbridge Neighbourhood Sgt Raf Khan said: “I appreciate that the local community has shown great concern around the robberies that have been occurring around the Great Park area. It has been crucial for public confidence that the Police perform a prompt and effective investigation around these offences. Our local CID have been working hard to do just that.”
