Police closed off a section of Bristol Road South at Rednal yesterday evening as emergency services attended a man found lying in the road with head injuries.

The incident happened at the junction of Kendal Rise Road at around 7pm. The man was attended by a doctor and paramedics before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Edgbaston. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police cordoned off a section of the road while the scene was investigated.

Suggestions on social media that a child had been run over appear to be false, with a police spokeswoman confirming that they had no details of a child being involved.

Police are continuing their investigation into how the man received his injuries. Anyone with any information should call West Midlands Police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
