A man remained in police custody this morning after he was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm in West Heath last night.

West Midlands Police were called to the Wychall Road / Chaddersley Road area on the evening of Sunday 15th February, after reports of a man with a gun being seen in the street. A man hunt involving armed response police, police dogs and police helicopter was initiated.

A 28 year old man was arrested at around 8pm at a house in Oakridge Road. The man claimed that local youths had stolen his mobile phone.

A replica handgun was seized by police.
