Werewolves, zombies, a host of Draculas and a coven of princess witches took over Northfield Shopping Centre during a day of Halloween fun.
Children queued patiently to get their faces painted in a ghoulish fashion while there were creepy craft sessions, a trick or treat treasure hunt and a monster mash up.
Jo Ewart of Flamingo Entertainments, who was in charge of the freaky fun, said: “It’s been amazing and absolutely crazy. We just couldn’t keep up with demand for the face painting. Lots of children came dressed in their costumes ready to go trick or treating and wanted their faces painted.
“I have done so many werewolves and Draculas while a lot of the girls went for princess witches. But I have to say I was taken aback by one young man of about seven who asked in Latin for a werewolf design. I’ve never had anyone ask in Latin before!
“It’s been an amazing day though and there is no doubt parents have enjoyed it too. We have even painted the faces of a few mummies – not Egyptian mummies, the mums of children!
“I think the fact all the Halloween events were free makes a huge difference to parents. I think they appreciate having something put on to entertain children in a safe and secure location.”
She added: “There really has been a lovely atmosphere especially with the treasure hunt which I think children particularly enjoyed. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces.”
Northfield Shopping Centre Manager Pete Barber said: “We wanted to offer somewhere safe so children can enjoy their half-term and Halloween fun – we know that the centre is always very popular with families at this time of year.
“It has certainly been an extraordinarily busy day and families and children have had a great day.”
