Northfield Shopping Centre will be transformed into the North Pole this month as Santa lands for Christmas.
His Eskimo helpers are busy making an animated igloo grotto where Santa can take to his silver and blue ice-throne to meet youngsters and hand them an early Christmas present.
Polar bears, seals and even a few penguins on holiday from the South Pole will feature in the animated Arctic grotto, which will be near the centre’s park entrance.
Santa and his helpers will be opening up the grotto on Saturday November 29 from 11am-4pm, and then each Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout December, plus December 22 to Christmas Eve. Entrance is £4 and includes a present.
The grotto is part of the centre’s new Christmas decorations, starring a massive fir tree covered in lights, dozens of smaller trees plus hundreds of new lights and baubles.
Northfield Shopping Centre manager Pete Barber said: “As a dad, I know that going to see Santa and hand him your present list is a great part of a magical Christmas for a child – it’s something he or she will remember for many years.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the animated Arctic grotto when it’s completed, and then welcoming local youngsters to meet Santa.
“We have completely re-vamped our Christmas lights for this season, and I hope it will help our shoppers to get into the festive spirit as they pick up presents for family and friends.”
Northfield Shopping centre is home to more than 40 stores, from fashion, health and beauty to services and food and drink, and has more than 650 parking spaces. More details at www.northfieldshopping.co.uk.
