Birmingham South Response police had to enlist the help of a bomb disposal unit when two World War I shells were found at an address in Northfield this afternoon.

The pair of WWI 4.5 inch Howitzer shells were found at an address Tessall Lane during a garage clearance.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit safely removed the shells and took them away for destruction.

Best get rid, though I’ve got some big fence posts to drive in first.
