A Level student Megan Luck heads back to school to capture life in the classroom.
The seventeen year old student, from Redditch, visited Turves Green Girls’ School and Technology College to take photographs for a new school prospectus.
Megan, who has just completed A Levels in Photography, English and Religious Studies at Cadbury Sixth Form College, is a keen photographer and hopes to develop her passion into a full-time career.
The opportunity to take photographs at the school came about as a result of growing links between the college’s creative arts department and Turves Green Girls’ School. Year 10 pupils have visited the college for a photography workshop and there are more events planned.
Turves Green Girls’ School and Cofton Primary School have also recently formed The Endeavour Co-operative Education Trust in partnership with Cadbury College, Bournville College, Worcester University and Alphabets at Cofton.
Megan is now busy building a portfolio of work and volunteers as a photographer for the National Trust’s Oak Mobile project. Her work was also shown at the ‘Who am I?’ exhibition at Birmingham Central Library earlier this year.
Megan has photographed local events, proms and weddings. Examples of her work are available at: www.meganluckphotography.co.uk
Having just finished her final A Level examinations, Megan plans to start a HR traineeship in September, when her photography will become more of a hobby. She plans to continue to develop her skills over the next few years and work towards the dream of becoming a professional photographer. Megan said:
“I love photography and being able to take pictures at the school was a great way to build up my portfolio, working with a different brief and a new client.”
Rachel Harrison, Marketing and External Communications Officer at Cadbury College, who accompanied Megan on the visit, said:
“Students often struggle to find valuable work experience so this was a fantastic opportunity for Megan to plan and deliver a photo-shoot. I was very impressed with the way she approached the project and her professional attitude.”
