A Rednal school held a fun, informative and moving commemorative World War I Day today.
Instead of their usual lessons, students at Colmers School and Sixth Form College took part in a variety of activities with a World War I theme: activities included cooking, code-breaking, art, dance, drama, science and music.
Sixth formers spent the morning creating a memorial garden for those who lost their lives.
The day ended with a moving whole school assembly where individual students and staff, holding single red poppies, rose to their feet one by one as names of the fallen from the local area were read out.
The last post was played and the students left the assembly in silence.
The poppies, labelled with the names of the fallen, were then placed in the new memorial garden in remembrance of those lost by the local community.
