Year 6 pupils at ARK Rose Primary Academy gained their best ever primary school results this year, with a big increase in the number of pupils passing their SATs.
ARK Rose Primary Academy in Kings Norton has seen the numbers of pupils passing their end of year 6 exams jump from 14% last year to 70% this year. ARK’s other primary school in Birmingham, ARK Tindal in Balsall Heath has also seen results improve this year.
The figures refer to the number of children who achieve a ‘Level 4’ in reading, writing and maths at the end of Key Stage 2 when most children are age 11.
ARK Rose pupils achieved most highly in English reading, with 100% of pupils getting Level 4 or above. For English writing, the figure was 80% while 70% of pupils gained Level 4 or above in the maths test.

“We did a lot of work which we thought would come up in the test and it helped. Miss taught us new methods to work out maths calculations and we did a lot of English writing, which helped.”

“I was nervous about the maths part of the SATs. Miss Hutchinson really helped by giving us 10 minute lessons before we did each test. This helped me relax.”
Penelope Webb, Headteacher of ARK Rose Primary Academy, said:
“I’m very pleased to see this group of children do so well. With a good set of results they are now well set up to thrive at secondary school, and then go on to university. We are making progress at ARK Rose and the whole school community is working really hard to make it a success. ”
