West Midlands Police have today issued a further statement on an incident at Rubery Nursery and Children’s Centre in Rednal on Monday 23rd June.

We hope that this will clarify the matter and reassure parents.

The statement reads:

Officers were called to Rubery Nursery on the afternoon of 23rd June 2014 after a female parent had reportedly made threats towards members of staff. As a precaution the Children’s Centre within the nursery closed as the female had potential to return. The member of staff who runs the centre did not feel comfortable to return to work and this is why it has been closed since. The nursery itself has remained open.

A woman has since been arrested for various matters including two public order offences against staff at the centre and remains on bail pending further enquiries.

We have not received, nor are we investigating, any complaints against the nursery or the centre.

The Children’s Centre at Rubery Nursery remains closed at present.

If you normally use the services that the centre provides, you can access the same or similar services at Frankley Plus or Merrishaw Children’s Centres. For information, contact 0121 675 8355 or email frankleypluscc@hollyhill.bham.sch.uk
