From West Midlands Police:
Police have launched an investigation after a security guard at ASDA in Weoley Castle was attacked overnight and suffered slash wounds to her arm.
The female member of staff, aged 42, was on duty with a male colleague at the 24-hour supermarket at around 2:15am when it happened. She was taken to hospital for treatment.
Enquiries are underway at the store this morning, meanwhile anyone who can assist officers is asked to call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
