Two teenagers were arrested on Wednesday night after a car stolen from Rubery at the weekend was involved in a collision in Longbridge.

The silver Nissan Micra was stolen, with its keys, from outside Balti Hut in New Road between 10pm and 10.30pm on Saturday night (26th April) while the owner was inside. It is unclear whether the keys were dropped or taken from inside the shop.

On Wednesday evening (30th April) the Micra was involved in a collision in Fountain Close, Longbridge. Four people ran from the scene.

Following the accident, two 17-year-olds, from Kings Norton and Northfield, were arrested by West Midlands Police on suspicion of theft. The pair were handed over to West Mercia Police who were dealing with the original crime and have been released on police bail until 10th June.

The vehicle was recovered with a smashed windscreen and a crease to its boot.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111
