West Midlands Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery at a bank in West Heath this afternoon (Thursday 22nd May).

Police received a report of a sighting of a man with a gun at Barclays Bank in Alvechurch Road at around 1.15pm

An emergency response was triggered when the alarm was set off in the bank, activating a smoke device. The offender, armed with a handgun or imitation firearm, fled when the alarm was raised.

Police are currently working at the scene and searches are being carried out in the local area.

There were no reports of any injuries.
