During today’s high winds and heavy rain, part of a large conifer tree broke off and fell on a house in Devon Road, Frankley. The incident was caught on video by a neighbour.

Luckily, no real damage was caused to the property and no-one was hurt, despite the tree opening the back door and letting itself in! (See photo below)

Householder Jenni Lucas told us that a 30ft section of the tree was still standing and she was concerned it may also fall and cause more damage.

Cllr Andy Cartwright has arranged for a tree surgeon to visit the property to check it is safe.

The Met Office forecasts further rain overnight with winds of around 20mph gusting up to 40mph.
