West Midlands Police have an issued an appeal for information following an armed robbery at a gym in Northfield last week.

Officers were called to the Workout Warehouse on Station Road in Northfield just before 5pm on Friday (13 December) after a man threatened a 16 year old member of staff with what was believed to be a handgun.

He stole a quantity of cash, a mobile phone and a digital camera and ran from the gym. He was last seen heading towards Northfield train station.

The offender is described as black, aged around 19-20 is of a slim build and has black afro hair. It is believed he was wearing a black puffa style jacket and blue jeans. He may have been carrying a black Gucci shoulder bag with a red stripe and gold lettering.

Officers continue to make enquiries and are trawling CCTV for any clues that would assist the investigation.

DC Darren Wilkie from Force CID said: “The robbery happened at rush hour and there would have been a lot of people in the area at the time.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen this man to come forward with any sightings or information that could aid us in our investigations.

“This was a frightening ordeal for the member of staff and we are doing everything within our power to catch the culprit.”
